We are a 136 place nursery caring for children between six months and five years. We are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.. 50 weeks of the year. Only closing for two weeks over the festive season. We are a partner provider nursery offering funded childcare for preschool children and terrific twos. We are also part of the Affordable Childcare for Working Parent scheme in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council, supporting working parents with the cost of childcare. Narrator: As you enter the nursery, you are welcomed into the foyer where you will be greeted by our friendly receptionist. In this area you can read the parent noticeboard. Look through the clothes in our free clothing rack or take a seat to await your appointment. Our safe security systems will only allow you access to the main body of the nursery, with a personal card issued by the nursery or with a nursery employee on the ground floor of the nursery. Narrator: On the ground floor of the nursery we have our youngest children. Our baby room cares and supports children from six months to two years. This is a cozy room full of exciting and stimulating heuristic play experiences that allow our youngest children to explore their world through sensory motor development. This room also has suitable developmental resources that support children as they begin to crawl and walk, challenging them appropriately to take those next big steps. The baby room opens out into the garden with a bespoke awning to shelter children from the incremental weather. In this room, there is a separate changing area where children have their own boxes to store their personal nappies, wipes and cream. There is also a separate sleep room where children can rest, relax and recharge. Narrator: Next is our 2 to 3 room. In this room there are areas for children to play, explore and be curious. There are lots of opportunities for messy and sensory play to role play and construction. The room also has cozy spaces for children to relax in and take a moment, or to observe their friends playing. This room has double doors that open into the garden area, where children can choose to play indoors or out. This area has a separate nappy room that includes small toilets to support and encourage toilet training. Narrator: Healthy lunches are freshly cooked daily by our in-house chef in a separate dining area. Children are encouraged to sit at tables in a family dining experience and share in the serving of meals Narrator: On the ground floor we have a beautiful sensory and feeding room. This room has soft lighting, bubble sounds and soft furnishings. It's a calming sensory space that helps children and families rest and relax. Narrator: As we head upstairs to our preschool rooms you pass the nursery library. This is a further space where children can spend time with adults reading books in a cozy den, surrounded by fairy lights and soft cushions. Narrator: Our two preschool rooms, Rainbows and Dragons, are playful learning environments through play. We harness children's natural curiosity promoting activities where children can experiment, explore, problem solve, and engage in meaningful activities with their peers. Through play, children can begin to understand the concept of numbers, letters, and how to manouver in the world around them. Narrator: Children are also able to explore the outdoor space by accessing the nursery, garden, or by spending time in our hidden garden. This is our outdoor nursery where children can go and spend the day at an outdoor location as part of the Hidden Garden. Children have the opportunity to spend time out and about in the woods, at the beach, or in other areas of the local community. Our outdoor nursery enables us to remove the limits of the indoor setting and give children the opportunity to climb trees, build dens, create rope swings and so much more. Narrator: All children's progress is recorded in learning journals, which you can access from a smartphone, tablet or computer. 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our team will upload observations, stories, photographs and videos that show you what your children have been participating in while in our care, at the beginning and end of the day. You also have the opportunity to catch up with the team and hear what your child has done that day. Narrator: Waterfront nursery has an experienced and qualified workforce who are passionate about outcomes for children. The team is diverse and between them they are able to communicate in more than 20 languages. If you have any questions, please contact us.
