It is one of the very first nursery schools in Scotland to fully embrace the new Curriculum for Excellence and hosted a graduation ceremony with a difference. Complete with mortar boards and gowns, the children took part in their very own graduation ceremony and received certificates of their achievement from Miles Dibsdall, Principal at Edinburgh’s Telford College. More accustomed to playing for troops in Afghanistan as well as performing the Royal Guard for the Queen at Balmoral Castle, Corporal Andy Reid gave up some of his time and formally opened our Burns Supper as he piped in the haggis for the children’s lunch. Lynn Muir, Waterfront Nursery Manager, explained:  “The children and staff were delighted that Andy came down to our nursery to help give the children an authentic Burns Supper.  We’ve never had a piper perform before and we’re honoured that he’s given up his time for us.  As part the learning programme for all our children, we recited Burns poems throughout the day and decorated the nursery with all things Scottish.  The children were all very excited about the day and they loved their haggis, neeps and tatties, as well as hearing the pipe music.
